Tuesday

Ginger is out of the coma - no sedation, no seizures or tremors last night so the EEG machine has been removed [they left the electrodes in her head to do a follow up study next week], she is still hooked up to the ventilator but is mostly breathing on her own - she still has a fever and continues to receive pain medication and antibiotics...she is responding to verbal and physical cues - opening her eyes, wincing when a needle is poked into her, coughing while they suction out her lungs, reacting to ice packs being placed on her to reduce the fever - her facial expressions suggest to me that she is wondering about her unfamiliar surroundings..

The nursing staff at the hospital are amazing caregivers and support for Ginger and us - thank you for your labors of love.

What an answer to our prayers that she is out of the coma! We will continue to pray for a full recovery and for strength endurance and patience.

I have been thinking about her so much and this is such wonderful news. The road ahead may be long, but Ginger is just the person to take on the trip. I breathed a HUGE sigh of relief - some welcome good news in what has been an otherwise challenging few weeks. Thank you thank you thank you for keeping us up-to-date; it is the first page I check each day wherever I am.

Sending prayers and positive energy, Nancy

This is the best news I have heard and read! I believe all our prayers are working. Ginger is a strong girl and she'll bounce back quicker than most. I know, I have played against her in many sports. She'll make it her mission to have a full recovery. Thank-you for these daily updates!

I did not see Ginger since the Saturday the 6th. She was in a bad condition then.

Myself and Terry went to the Hospital yesterday evening and saw that Ginger was asleep. I thought things had not changed.

But, I was delighted when the Nurse, came and said that Ginger was not in a Coma anymore, and she opened her eyes when the Nurse mover her.

It was just wonderful, and yes, all our prayers did work!
